office apps disappear no matter how I install them

Hi, I have a surface 2 laptop, holding an E5 license (Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise is also ticked). I installed office tools after logging in to office.com, but the apps never show up, can't be found in search, start and Win+R -> excel.
I tried offline and online repair but no luck. I tried installing using ODT deployment tool, this way the apps were installed and I was able to use them, but the next day all apps disappear again.... I've been dealing with this for weeks now and it seems none of the troubleshooting instructions on web work for me.
